Moree Plains Shire Council (3 other projects)

Local children took only a short time to master the art of stilt walking.

Moree Plains Shire Council developed a circus school for young people aged between 8 and 18 years of age. This initiative is an alternative to mainstream sport activities as it was realised that not all children/young people had an interest in these activities. The circus school is based on an existing concept developed by the Gunnedah Circus School who were employed to teach the skills and further develop the skills of older youth in order that they could continue to instruct the classes and assume responsibility for the sustainability in partnership with Council and the local PCYC.

The young people made their inaugural public exhibition of their newly acquired skills at Moree's annual Multicultural Festival in October 2008.
